About Us
Based in Adelaide, South Australia, Readymade Productions was originally established as a film and television business in the mid ‘80s and has more than ninety productions to its credit, ranging from feature films to television, from independent documentaries to commissioned programs for corporate and government clients.
Over the years we have specialised to became an industry leader in using storytelling as part of more extensive programs addressing various relationship-based social issues. Under our Stories of Us banner, these programs centre on the production of resources developed in collaboration with focus groups then rolled out for widespread implementation.
For example, our Stories of Us secondary school bullying prevention program was developed in collaboration with students, with the support of specialist psychologists. The program centres on highly authentic films made with the students. The instructional resource and DVD is now used in approaching thirty percent of secondary schools in Australia.
The Stories of Us programs have attracted international acclaim and the support of leading scholars in Australia, USA, Canada and the UK. In 2007 Readymade established a US production and distribution company, and the first series of American resources are now in general release and are already in use in 36 states.
Readymade Productions has produced a number of independent documentaries. One example is A Tangle in Stone, a television-hour special exploring the complex relationships between Jews and Arabs in the Old City of Jerusalem. The documentary is produced by Readymade in association with the Australian Film Commission and distributed internationally by Beyond Films.
As part of the development of his feature film The Butterfly Dream, Readymade's Christopher Faull produced and directed a full digital workshopping from his original script. The story centres on a troubled young woman’s search for identity. The film version is being produced with Mark Patterson (Paul Cox's Innocence, Human Touch).
Commissioned production includes The Jason Cycle (aka Ending Offending), a short film designed to help reduce repeat offending with alcohol-related crime. The film was jointly funded by the Drug & Alcohol Services Council, the WA Ministry for Justice and the South Australian Film Corporation. Readymade's commissioned work includes some of Australia’s leading corporate and government clients.
